Avatar is a 2009 American epic science fiction film directed by James Cameron. Set in the mid-22nd century on the lush alien world of Pandora, it follows Jake Sully, a paraplegic former Marine who becomes part of the Avatar Program, which allows humans to remotely control genetically engineered bodies called Avatars. He becomes involved with the native Na'vi people and must choose between following orders or protecting the world he comes to call home.
